Choice Making & Power

ree

Every time I make a choice, I learn how that decision impacts. This impact is called a consequence. We can have both positive and negative consequences.

A positive consequence will make me want to have something happen

again and repeat that choice.

This can be choosing to listen to a specific radio station because it plays the songs I like.

It can be choosing a new way home from work because it saves me 10 minutes.

It can even be choosing to shower at night so I can sleep in the next morning.

A negative consequence will make me want to avoid doing something again in the future.

This can be choosing not to get gas in the morning because it makes me late for work.

It can be choosing to do the drive-thru for coffee because I don't want to get out of the car when it is cold.

It can also be choosing a soft sweatshirt to wear so the tag doesn't scratch me.

By interacting with, a

nd understanding the different consequences of our choices, we begin to have more power. We have more power (and choices) in our everyday choices, who we surrounding ourselves with and our interaction with the environment.

This power helps us to avoid dangerous situations, avoid toxic people, and keeps us safe and happy.

Choices give us power!!
