Multi-Sensory Learning

Updated: Nov 14, 2023

The days are long and cold. It gets dark super early, the holidays are over, and the month of January is never ending! This part of the school year is the hardest for most kids, and keeping motivation going for homework or activities at home, is almost impossible. After a long day at work, the last thing any parent wants to do is fight with their child.

Enter multi-sensory learning!

Always remember that each person has a different style of learning! By making simple changes, you can keep activities and work interesting AND promote learning at the same time.

Here are just a few fun ideas:

  • Learning to write letters in finger paint is way more fun than with a pencil.

  • Counting by sorting (and eating!!) M&Ms will make any kid want to keep doing math.

  • Taking movement breaks (jumping jacks, a quick walk, stretches) keeps kids engaged.

  • Reading out loud, pointing to each word, and writing/typing information helps increase memory skills.

Multi-sensory learning helps increase memory and information recall, while increasing focus and attention!

Time to stop fighting and start making learning fun!!
